ADDING OR CHANGING COOLANT EGIMOTORS recommends the use of EGIMOTORS Antifreeze 50/50 Premix. This antifreeze is already premixed and ready to use. Do not dilute with water. To ensure that the coolant maintains its ability to protect the engine, we recommend that the system be completely drained every five (5) years and fresh Antifreeze 50/50 Premix added.

  • Page 114: Belt Removal

MAINTENANCE BELT REMOVAL If a belt fails, always clean any debris from the clutch air duct and from the clutch and engine compartments when replacing the belt. WARNING Failure to remove ALL debris when replacing the belt could result in Tractor damage, loss of control and severe injury or death.
  • Page 115 MAINTENANCE 3. Rotate the clutch cover back and lift up and over the control arm mounting NOTICE Use care when lifting clutch cover upwards. Do not damage cover, intake boot, or electrical harness. 4. Pull clutch cover out towards the rear of the Tractor as shown above. 5.
  • Page 116: Belt Inspection

MAINTENANCE BELT INSPECTION To inspect the drive belt, do the following: 1. Inspect belt for hour-glassing (extreme circular wear in at least one spot and on both sides of the belt). Hour glassing occurs when the drive train does not move and the drive clutch engages the belt.

  • Page 121: Spark Arrester

MAINTENANCE SPARK ARRESTER WARNING • Never operate the Tractor without the spark arrester. • Remove any combustible materials from the area. Failure to heed the following warnings while servicing the spark arrestor could result in serious injury or death. • Never run the engine in an enclosed area. Exhaust contains poisonous carbon monoxide gas that can cause loss of consciousness or death in a very short time.
  • Page 122 MAINTENANCE WARNING After opening a bottle of brake fluid, always discard any unused portion. Never store or use a partial bottle. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it rapidly absorbs moisture from the air. The moisture causes the boiling temperature of the brake fluid to drop, which can lead to early brake fade and the possibility of accident or severe injury.
  • Page 123: Brake Inspection

MAINTENANCE BRAKE INSPECTION WARNING Do not apply WD-40®or any petroleum product to brake discs. These types of products are flammable and may also reduce the friction between the brake pad and caliper. WARNING Brake components get hot with prolonged use and can cause burns. Wear protective gloves when inspecting the brakes.
  • Page 124: Steering Wheel Inspection

MAINTENANCE STEERING WHEEL INSPECTION Check the steering wheel for specified freeplay and smooth operation at the intervals outlined in the Periodic Maintenance Chart section. 1. Position the Tractor on level ground. 2. Lightly turn the steering wheel left and right. 3.
  • Page 125: Cam Adjustment

MAINTENANCE CAM ADJUSTMENT NOTICE Trail Boss and NorthStar Trail Boss models are equipped with Nivomat shocks, which cannot be manually adjusted. Nivomat shocks automatically adjust internal pressure during use Adjust the front and rear shock absorber springs by rotating the adjustment cam either clockwise or counter-clockwise to increase or decrease spring tension.
  • Page 126: Tire Tread Depth

Improper tire inflation or the use of non-standard size or type of tires may adversely affect Tractor handling, which could result in Tractor damage or personal injury. Always maintain proper tire pressure. Always use EGIMOTORS approved size and type of tires for this Tractor when replacing tires. TIRE TREAD DEPTH Always replace tires when tread depth is worn to 3 mm (1/8”) or less.
