NOTE: The lamp starts flashing when the tool/battery
becomes overheated or detects an error during driv-
ing operation. Allow the tool and battery together (with
the battery installed in the tool) to cool down until
the lamp stops flashing. If no improvement has been
made after cooling, ask your local Makita Service
Center.

Overdischarge protection

When the battery capacity is not enough, the tool stops
automatically. In this case, remove the battery from the
tool and charge the battery.
Protections against other causes
Protection system is also designed for other causes
that could damage the tool and allows the tool to stop
automatically. Take all the following steps to clear the
causes, when the tool has been brought to a temporary
halt or stop in operation.
1.
Turn the tool off, and then turn it on again to
restart.
2.
Charge the battery(ies) or replace it/them with
recharged battery(ies).
3.
Let the tool and battery(ies) cool down.
If no improvement can be found by restoring protection
system, then contact your local Makita Service Center.
Switch action
CAUTION:
Before installing the battery car-
tridge into the tool, always check to see that the
switch trigger actuates properly and returns to
the "OFF" position when released.
CAUTION:
When not operating the tool,
depress the trigger-lock button from B side to
lock the switch trigger in the "OFF" position.
To prevent the switch trigger from accidentally pulled,
the trigger-lock button is provided.
To pull the switch trigger, depress the trigger-lock button
from A side.
After use, always press in the trigger-lock button from
B side.

Adjusting depths of stapling
WARNING:
Always make sure that your fin-
gers are not placed on the switch trigger or the
contact element and that the battery cartridge and
staples are removed before adjusting the depths
of stapling.
Depths of stapling can be changed by lifting and lower-
ing the depth guide at the bottom of the tool. Turn the
adjuster in the direction shown in the figure to adjust the
depth guide position. Settings toggle through 5 ranges
of depth in 0.6 mm increments.

Lighting up the lamp
CAUTION:
Do not look in the light or see the
source of light directly.
Pull the switch trigger or actuate the contact element
to light up the lamp. The lamp remains lit for up to
15 minutes while pulling the switch trigger or actuating
the contact element. The lamp goes out approximately
10 seconds after releasing the switch trigger and the
contact element.

NOTICE:
Use a dry cloth to wipe the dirt off the
lens of the lamp. Be careful not to scratch the lens
of lamp, or it may lower the illumination.
NOTICE:
The tool may not fire staples after the
battery becomes low on power even while the
lamp remains lit. In this case, charge the battery
cartridge.
NOTICE:
The lamp starts flashing when the tool/
battery becomes overheated or detects an error
during driving operation. Take the following steps
to clear possible causes.
Keep the battery installed in the tool, and let

the tool and battery together cool down until
the lamp stops flashing.
Remove the battery cartridge from the tool,

and then clear jams inside the magazine.
If the tool does not restart after recovery, ask your
local Makita Service Center.
ASSEMBLY
CAUTION:
Always make sure that your
fingers are not placed on the switch trigger or
the contact element and the battery cartridge is
removed before carrying out any work on the
stapler.
Staples
CAUTION:
Do not use deformed, rusted, and
corroded staple strips. Use staples specified in
this manual. Using staples other than those specified
may cause staple jamming and breakage of the tool.
NOTICE:
Handle the staples and their box care-
fully. If the staples have been handled roughly,
they may be bent out of shape, causing poor
staple feed or jamming.
NOTICE:
Avoid storing the staples in a very
humid or hot place or place exposed to direct
sunlight.
