The Kidde KN-COB-LP2 carbon monoxide detector has a battery door that allows access to the batteries. The manual mentions that the battery compartment includes a safety feature that makes it difficult to close the door without the batteries being installed. However, it does not provide specific instructions on how to open the device.

The Kidde KN-COB-LP2 may continue to chirp after changing the batteries twice due to the End of Life notification. After ten years from initial power-up, the alarm will beep twice every 30 seconds, indicating it needs to be replaced. The End of Life Hush feature allows silencing the chirps for 3 days, up to a total of 30 days, but after that, the alarm must be replaced. If the chirping persists despite new batteries, it likely means the unit has reached the end of its life and needs to be replaced.
