During operation of the EBM Machine, elevated temperatures will occur on various machine com-
ponents. Always be careful when handling parts of the EBM Machine as it can result in serious
burn injuries.
Even after use the vacuum chamber, Electron Beam Unit and surrounding surfaces on interior
walls and components may be hot (>55 ºC).
The external shell of the EBM Machine is designed to keep a temperature below 5 5 5 5 º º C C .
The chamber door remains locked until the Build Unit temperature is below 8 8 0 0 º º C C , which is rated as a safe
temperature for the machine, powder and build. However, some parts of the chamber or equipment con-
tained within the chamber might still have an elevated temperature.
Use tools or insulating gloves to handle hot components.
The blasting process shall not be performed at temperatures above 5 5 0 0 º º C C .

Moving machine parts, for example the rake and build table, have enough power to cause seri-
ous bodily injury!

Safety light curtain and door safety switches protect the operator from moving parts inside the
vacuum chamber. Interlocked parts:
• Rake arm
• Build table (Z-actuator)
• Pneumatic components
• Heat shield

Always use safety shoes with steel toe caps when working in the vicinity of the build chamber.
