GETTING STARTED (cont.) Clock (Lithium) Battery Insertion/Removal Slot This battery is necessary for clock operation and to perform date/time settings. SWITCH OFF POWER Switch off the unit’s power and remove the power supply unit (battery pack, AC Power Adapter/Battery Charger, etc.). REMOVE BATTERY HOLDER Pull out the battery holder.

If the white balance is correct, all other colours will be accurately reproduced. The white balance is usually adjusted automatically. However, the more advanced camcorder operator would prefer to control this function manually and achieve a more professional colour/tint reproduction.

PLAYBACK Using The Cassette Adapter Cassette Adapter Use this to play back a VHS-C video cassette recorded with this camcorder on a VHS VCR. It is fully compatible with any VHS video cassette recorder. The C-P7U adapter is battery powered and automatically performs tape loading and unloading.

Basic Connections Tape Dubbing CONFIRM POWER-OFF STATUS CONNECT EQUIPMENT Make sure the camcorder’s power is off. Following the illustration on pg. 38, connect the camcorder and the VCR. CONNECT CAMCORDER TO TV OR PREPARE FOR DUBBING Set the camcorder’s Power Switch to “PLAY”, Pull out the connector cover and open it.
USING THE REMOTE CONTROL UNIT The Full-Function Remote Control Unit can operate this camcorder from a distance as well as the basic operations (Playback, Stop, Pause, Fast-Forward and Rewind) of your VCR. AUTOMATIC EDITING TO VCR Original tape (camcorder) PREPARE SOURCE TAPE IN OUT Rewind the tape in the camcorder to the beginning of the scene you want to edit and press PAUSE. ENGAGE VCR’S RECORD-PAUSE MODE Point the remote control towards the VCR’s infrared sensor and press VCR REC STBY, or manually engage the VCR’s Record-Pause mode.

Insert Editing Power Switch You can record a new scene onto a previously recorded tape, replacing a section of the original recording with minimal picture distortion at the in- and out-points.
