By purchasing your DISCUS™ DRG A226G unit you have entered into the world of broadband
Internet access. This Quick Installation Guide is meant to help you install your Router and establish
a connection from your computers to the Internet, quickly and easily.

Before starting you must ensure the following:
• Your computer has a Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP or MAC 10.x Operating System with at least
60MB of free Hard Disk space and 128MB of RAM.
• You have a computer that has an Ethernet or an USB connection available.
• If you require wireless access, you must have a computer with a wireless 802.11b or 802.11g
adapter card installed.
• There are no other DHCP server devices on your local network that are responsible for allocating
IP addresses to your computers and other network connection devices.
• If one or more of these conditions are not met, refer to the comprehensive User Guide provided
on the accompanying CD-ROM for further guidance.

You should place the Router in such a location to ensure that:
• It is located near an electrical outlet and a phone wall socket.
• Water or moisture cannot enter the case of the unit.
• It is out of direct sunlight and away from sources of heat.
• The cabling is away from power lines, fluorescent lighting fixtures, and sources of electrical noise
such as radios, transmitters and broadband amplifiers.
• It is centrally located with respect to the wireless devices that will be connected to the Router. A
suitable location might be on top of a high shelf to ensure the maximum coverage for all con-
nected devices.
