Chapter 3 Installation Preparation

3.1 Safety Information

To avoid damage to human body and devices, please read the following safety
recommendations carefully before installing S7500 Series Ethernet Switches. The
following recommendations do not cover all the possible hazardous conditions.

3.1.1 General Safety Recommendations

Turn OFF all the powers and remove all the power cords before opening the
chassis.
Keep the chassis clean and dust-free.
Keep the chassis and installation tools away from walk areas.
Do not wear loose clothing, jewelry (including ring and necklace, and so on) or any
other things that could get caught in the chassis when you install and maintain the
switch.

3.1.2 Safety of Electricity

Look carefully for possible hazards in your work area, such as ungrounded power
extension cables, missing safety grounds, and moist floors.
Locate the emergency power-off switch in the room before installation. Shut the
power off at once in case accident occurs.
Unplug all the power cords and external cables before moving the chassis.
Better not maintain the equipment alone when it has been powered by electricity.
Never assume that power is disconnected from a circuit. Always check.
Do not place the switch on a moist area and avoid liquid flowing into the switch.

3.1.3 Safety of Moving

S7500 Series Switches are rather big and heavy, so follow the recommendations below
when moving them.
Turn off all the powers and remove all the power cords before opening the chassis.
Do not move the switch alone. Work with another person.
Move the switch slowly and stably. Never move suddenly or twist your body.
Move the switch at stable and consistent paces with your peer. Keep balance of
your body.
