How to Use the Portable ROM Player
Playback starts through reception of encoded infrared signals or by inputting com m ands w ith the num erical
keys.
Playback through the reception of encoded infrared signals
There are tw o types of playback available: " Point reception" w hich operates in close proxim ity to the exhibited
w ork of art, and " Auto reception" w hich operates autom atically w hen the Portable ROM Player enters an area of
reception.
• Starting playback through Point
reception. (Pointing method)

Point the extended pointer on top of
the Portable ROM Player at the
Infrared Address Transm itter.
• For inform ation on the signal transm ission
distance, refer to Transm ission Area on page 11.

What to do w hen the message is too fast or needs to be repeated ?
• Playback at a slow er speed
Light turns on.

• The encoded infrared signals
are received and w hen a " Point
m essage" is present, playback
w ill start. When playback does
not start, m ove closer to the
Infrared Address Transm itter
and push
once m ore.
PLAY
• Press the SLOW button w hen
listening to inform ation that is
in a foreign language or for
any other reason you m ay
w ant to slow dow n playback.
The indicator light turns on and
the m essage is played back
slow ly from the beginning.
Press the SLOW button once
m ore to return to the norm al
speed. How ever w hen the
playback file uses the µ-Law
algorithm , the " SLOW"
function w ill not operate.

Enter the transm ission area that has
been set for Auto transm ission w hile
holding the Portable ROM Player.
• For inform ation on the signal transm ission
distance, refer to Transm ission Area on page 13.

When an " Auto m essage" is present,
playback w ill start autom atically.

• Under the follow ing conditions, playback w ill NOT
start:
When the Portable ROM Player is receiving the
sam e encoded infrared signal again.
(How ever, if you exit the transm ission area for 2
m inutes and then return, playback w ill start.)
• Replay the message
• Press the REPLAY button
REPLAY
to listen once m ore to the
m essage that is indicated
by the num ber in the
display w indow. Press the
REPLAY button during
playback to listen to the
m essage from the
beginning.
