Glossary of Terms
Drive axle--Front axle including the motor and brake assembly.
Junction box--Electrical box mounted on the top inside of machine's back panel.
Motor control box--Electronic speed control mounted on the lower inside of the
machine's back panel.
Beacon tower--A metal post at the back of the machine, which contains a strobe light,
brake light and radio receiver system.
Handle--The nickel-plated handle at the back of the machine used to steer when
operating the machine manually.
Control panel--The black metal box mounted on the handle. Contains mode switches
and battery voltage indicator lights as well as the key switch and emergency switch.
Swivel wheel--The 8 inch tire at the rear of the machine which will swivel when the
machine is turned off a straight path.
Strobe light--The light on top of the beacon post. Flashes about once each second
when the machine is turned on and the E-Shut off not pushed in.
Brake light--The brake light goes on whenever the back EMF of the motor is used to
slow down the machine.
Cart coupler--The forks that grip the shopping cart.
Cover--The fiberglass body that protects the components inside the machine. It hinges
from the front of the machine.
Throttle grip--Located on the right side of the steering handle. In manual control it is
twisted to give the required speed, when walking behind the machine, in forward or
reverse.
Hand grip--The rubber grip on the left side of the steering handle.
Brake release--A lever that releases the brake on the end of the motor by hand. This
lever has a black knob, which is on the lower right of the back panel. When it is pushed
"in" it is in normal operating position. Pulled "out" will turn off all the electronic controls
and release the brake so it can be moved by hand.
Hinge--Allows the body to be opened for viewing the insides of the machine. This hinge
is made of stainless steel so it will not rust.
