1.1 FEATURES

The moisture meter measures the percentage moisture content of a wide range of hygroscopic
materials, particularly those of organic origin, in the field or laboratory.
The test cell which is of the compression type and is stowed in the instrument when not in use, is
suitable for granular, powdery or fibrous substances and for specimens in the form of sheets or
boards up to one inch in thickness. An important function of the test cell is the application of
considerable pressure to the specimen under test in order to bring the sample to a uniform state
and minimize packing errors.
Direct reading temperature-correcting calculator scales can be slipped onto the instrument for the
commoner materials, such as cereal grains, cigarette tobacco and rice, while a large number of
calibration charts are available for substances ranging from apple rings to wool socks.
The standard model is powered by two 9 V internal dry batteries.
