2.6 AVOIDING ERRORS
Sampling errors
If several samples are tested from a stock of material the readings generally will vary a
little. These variations are due to local differences in the moisture content of the bulk and not to
inaccuracies in the instrument. To get a representative reading it is therefore necessary to test
enough samples to make sure a good average is obtained,
