PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION

Airbags

WARNING
Do not modify the front of the
vehicle in any way, as this can
adversely affect the airbag
deployment.
Note: A loud bang will be heard
when an airbag deploys and it is
normal to see a cloud of harmless
powdery residue.
The airbag system comprises the
following:
• inflatable nylon bags (airbags) with
gas generators.
• crash sensors.
• side airbags
• a number of crash sensors
• a warning lamp in the instrument
panel.

Occupant protection

• a passenger airbag deactivation
switch
• an airbag deactivation light in the
instrument panel
• an electronic control and
diagnostic unit.
