Outdoor Unit
AVOID:

heat sources, exhaust fans, etc. (Fig. 4a)

damp, humid or uneven locations.
DO:
G
choose a place as cool as possible.
G
choose a place that is well ventilated and where the
outside air temperature does not constantly exceed a
maximum 115°F (45°C).
G
allow enough room around the unit for air intake/
exhaust and possible maintenance. (Fig. 4b)
G
install the unit on the 2 accessory steel rails bolted
down to a concrete pad or cinder block platform.
These accessory parts are provided to protect the
unit from possible water and/or icing problems and
ensure longer service life. (Fig. 4c)
G
use lug bolts or equal to bolt down unit, reducing
vibration and noise.
Installing the Outdoor Unit in Heavy Snow Areas
IMPORTANT
In regions with heavy snowfall, the out-
door unit should be provided with a solid,
raised platform and snow-proof vents.
The platform should be higher than the
maximum snow depth.
In locations where wind-blown snow can be a problem,
snow-proof vents should be fitted to the unit and direct
exposure to the wind should be avoided as much as
possible. These problems may occur if proper counter-
measures are not taken:

The fan in the outdoor unit may not run, causing the
unit to be damaged.
G
There may be no air flow.
G
The tubing may freeze and burst.
G
The condenser pressure may drop because of strong
wind and the indoor unit may freeze.
For stable operation of the air con-

ed type indoor units under 4.9 ft.
