Attention

  • The soldering iron contains inflammable gas (butane gas) under pressure: usewith caution.
  • DO NOT expose the soldering iron to temperatures higher than +50°C (120°F)and avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight.
  • Gas leakage might occur if the GAS CONTROL LEVER is not positioned cor-rectly or is set to maximum.
  • DO NOT recharge, activate or operate the soldering iron near flames or sour-ces of heat, furnaces or combustible materials.

  • In the torch mode, the tip can reach temperatures of 1300°C(2500°F).

  • In the torch mode, the tip is nearly invisible in sunlight or under bri-ght lights.
  • DO NOT TOUCH THE SOLDERING IRON TIP WHEN HOT.
  • DO NOT leave the soldering iron unattended when it is operating or when it ishot.
  • ALWAYS MAKE SURE TO REPLACE THE SOLDERING IRON WHEN IT ISNOT HOT.
  • TURN OFF THE SOLDERING IRON BEFORE REPLACING THE SOLDE-RING TIP AND MAKE SURE THAT THE TIP IS NOT HOT BEFORE OPERATING.

Recharging

  1. Make sure that the on/off ignition switch is in the OFF position before recharging the soldering iron.
  2. To fill the soldering iron with gas, hold the container in a vertical position asshown in figure 1 (gas transfer depends on the force of gravity).

    Figure 1
  3. While recharging the soldering iron, watch the gas level in the see-through window of the tank and stop recharging when the tank is almost full.

Turning On/Off

  1. Set the on/off ignition switch to the intermediate position.
  2. Move the on/off ignition switch to the ON position, to release gas (see figure 2).
    Turning On/Off
    Figure 2
  3. Push the switch as far as possible, to trigger ignition, and then let it move backto the ON position to keep the soldering iron running.
  4. To turn off the soldering iron, set the switch to the OFF position.
  5. Do not touch the soldering tip, the assembled tip or the knurled nut when thesoldering iron is on.
  6. Do not turn on the soldering iron when the soldering tip is not properly assembled.

Replacing Soldering Tip

  1. Make sure that the soldering iron is cold before removing the soldering tip
  2. The catalyst that can be seen through the hot air exhaust hole is extremelydelicate and may get damaged if it is improperly stressed.
  3. The soldering tip can be removed, thus making it possible to install other typesof tips. When the soldering tip is not hot, unscrew the knurled nut and replace the soldering tip. Make sure not to overtighten the nut, to prevent the assembled tip from getting damaged.

Cleaning or Replacing Valve (3B)

Cleaning or Replacing Valve
Figure 3

  1. Remove the assembled tip by unscrewing the knurled nut.
  2. Unscrew the burner (3A) from the body (3C) (see figure 3). Use a pair of pliersor any other tool to unscrew, if need be.
  3. Carefully remove the valve (3B) by pulling it out of the body (3C).
  4. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SHORTER SIDE OF THE VALVE SHOULD FITINTO THE BODY AND NOT VICE VERSA.
  5. Immerse the valve in isopropyl alcohol or in any other similar solvent forapproximately 5 minutes.
  6. Fit the cleaned valve or a new valve into the body (3B) through the shorter side.
  7. Tighten burner 3A back, with a pair of pliers, if need be.
