Customizing Your Phone
2 Select the number of seconds you want the
backlight to stay on.
To control how long the backlight stays on for Java
applications:
1 From the main menu, select Settings >
Display/Info > Backlight > Java Timer.
2 Select the number of seconds you want the
backlight to stay on for Java applications.
To set the keypad backlight to light up only in low
light conditions:
1 From the main menu, select Settings >
Display/Info > Backlight > Sensor.
2 Set this option to On.
Temporarily Turning Off
Transmissions
Sometimes you may want to have your phone on,
but turn off its ability to make and receive calls and
other transmissions.
To set your phone so that it cannot make or receive
phone calls, Private calls, group calls, or Talkgroup
calls; or transfer data:
1 From the main menu, select Settings >
Advanced > Transmitters.
2 Set this option to Off.

Note: While powering on your phone, you can
turn transmitters off by pressing p for
more than 5 seconds.
To restore your phone's ability to do all these
things:
Set this option to On.
Note: When Transmitters is set to Off, your
phone's Bluetooth capability is disabled,
and all active Bluetooth connections are
dropped.

Using Settings

Note: Because your phone's audio player is
actually a Java application that you
access from the main menu, the settings
described here will not affect the audio
player unless they affect Java
applications.
Settings contains many submenus that let you
customize your phone.
For information on applying groups of settings to
your phone together, see "Profiles" on page 167.
