Speed control kit for groundsmaster 4000 series traction unit

12. Remove the (6) screws securing the right cover to
the right side of the control arm (Figure 3).
13. Remove the flange head screws securing the control
arm switch panel and arm rest to the control arm
housing (Figure 3).
14. From inside the control arm switch panel, press the
plug out of the hole in the side of the control panel
(Figure 4).

15. Press the switch into the control panel mounting
hole. Position the switch so the green lens is forward,
as shown in Figure 4.
16. Locate the wire harness under the control panel.
Plug the wire harness connector, labeled cruise, into
the switch.
17. Re-install the control arm switch panel and arm rest.
18. Re-install the cover to the right side of the control
arm.

19. Disconnect the upper hydraulic hose from the front,
right, deck lift cylinder.
Remaining steps are for all models
20. Mount the field core coil and coil mount to the right
side of the traction unit frame, above the front axle,
with (4) 1/4 x 7/8 inch capscrews, (4) locknuts and
(1) external tooth lockwasher as shown in Figure 5.
Note: The lockwasher is to be mounted between
the capscrew head and the frame.
Note: The shaft from the coil mount is to be
positioned to the rear.
21. Thread the set screw into the clutch plate until it
contacts the clutch plate tab (Figure 5). Tighten the
jam nut.
22. Loosely mount the clutch plate, compression spring
and (2) flange bushings to the frame with a 1/2 x
3.00 inch capscrew and jam nut while inserting the
clutch plate fork onto the traction pedal pivot and
the shaft from the coil mount the slot in the clutch
plate (Figure 5). The tab on the clutch plate is to
be toward the coil. Tighten the capscrew until there
is a .06" gap between the clutch plate and the coil.
Tighten the jam nut.
23. Plug the harness connector into the coil lead.
24. Connect the hydraulic hose to the lift cylinder.

25. Mount a switch to the longer switch bracket with
(2) #6 x 1 inch capscrews and lock nuts, as shown
in Figure 6. The switch actuator is to align with the
lever on the brake pivot rod.
