COMP types Type Explanation BOSS COMP This models a BOSS CS-3. This is a compressor that adds an even HI-BAND stronger effect in the high end. LIGHT This is a compressor with a light effect.
Page 36
COMP parameters Parameter Value Explanation Adjusts the range (time) over which low-level SUSTAIN 0–100 signals are boosted. Larger values will result in longer sustain. Adjusts the strength of the picking attack when the strings are played. Higher ATTACK 0–100 values result in a sharper attack, creating a more clearly defined sound.
LIMITER The limiter attenuates loud input levels to prevent distortion. LIMITER types Type Explanation BOSS LIMITER This is an original BOSS limiter. RACK 160D This models a dbx 160X. VTG RACK U This models a UREI 1178. LIMITER parameters Parameter...
Page 38
Parameter Value Explanation Adjust this as appropriate for the input signal from your bass guitar. When the THRESHOLD 0–100 input signal level exceeds this threshold level, limiting will be applied. This selects the compression ratio used RATIO 1:1–INF:1 with signals in excess of the threshold level.
DRIVE Various distortion effects can be selected. DRIVE types Type Explanation This is a crunch sound of the BOSS BD-2. BLUES OD This produces distortion that faithfully reproduces the nuances of picking. This is an overdrive sound that provides NATURAL distortion with a natural feeling.
Page 40
Type Explanation Distortion tuned especially for use with BASS DS basses. BASS MT Wild, radical distortion sound. Fuzz tuned especially for use with BASS FUZZ basses. With this effect, distortion is applied only to the high frequency sounds, and not to the sounds in the low frequency HIBAND DRV range.
Page 41
Parameter Value Explanation Adjusts the volume of the EFFECT LEVEL 0–100 effect sound. Adjusts the volume of the DIRECT MIX 0–100 direct sound.
CHORUS Chorus is an effect that creates a beautiful tonal spaciousness and depth by adding a slightly modulated sound. Type Explanation This chorus effect outputs the same MONO sound from both L channel and R channel. This stereo chorus uses spatial synthesis, with the direct sound output in the L STEREO 1 channel and the effect sound output in...
Page 43
Parameter Value Explanation Adjusts the depth of the DEPTH 0–100 chorus effect. Adjusts the time needed for the effect sound PRE DELAY 0–10ms to be output after the direct sound has been output. Produces a deeper sense of modulation. WAVE FORM Produces a typical chorus effect.
Page 44
Parameter Value Explanation Adjusts the volume of the direct sound. DIRECT MIX 0–100 Setting this to 0 cuts the direct sound. 2x2 CHORUS parameters Parameter Value Explanation Adjusts the speed of the LOW RATE 0–100 chorus effect for the low frequency range.
Page 45
Parameter Value Explanation Adjusts the depth of the chorus effect for the HIGH DEPTH 0–100 high frequency range. To use this as a doubling effect, set this to “0”. Adjusts the delay of the effect sound in the high-frequency range. HIGH PRE DELAY ms–40.0 Extend the pre-delay to...
FLANGER The flanger effect gives a twisting, jet-airplane-like character to the sound. Parameter Value Explanation Sets the rate of the RATE 0–100 flanging effect. Determines the depth DEPTH 0–100 of the flanging effect. Determines the amount of resonance (feedback). Increasing the value RESONANCE 0–100 emphasizes the effect,...
T. WAH You can produce a wah effect with the filter changing in response to the bass level. Parameter Value Explanation Selects the wah mode. Low pass filter. This provides a wah effect over MODE a wide frequency range. Band pass filter. This provides a wah effect in a narrow frequency range.
Page 48
Parameter Value Explanation Adjusts the center FREQUENCY 0–100 frequency of the wah effect. Adjusts the intensity of the wah effect in the area around the center frequency. PEAK 0–100 Higher values produce a stronger filter tone that emphasizes the wah effect. A value of 50 produces a standard wah sound.
DELAY This effect adds delayed sound to the direct sound, to give more body to the sound or create special effects. DELAY types Type Explanation DIGITAL A simple delay. ANALOG Gives a mild analog delay sound. Creates the characteristic wavering TAPE ECHO sound of a tape echo.
Page 50
DELAY parameters Parameter Value Explanation TYPE Refer to DELAY types 1ms– DELAY TIME Adjusts the delay time. 2000ms Adjusts the volume of delay that is returned to FEEDBACK 0–100 the input. Higher values increase the number of delay repeats. Sets the frequency at which the high cut filter 630Hz–...

Parameter Value Explanation Adjusts the modulation depth of the delay sound MODULATION 0–100 * Only when TYPE is DEPTH MODULATE or SDE- 3000. Turns the modulation on/off. MODULATION OFF, ON * Only when TYPE is SDE-3000. Turns the filter on/off. If this is on, a natural- sounding effect is obtained when you’re...
Page 52
Parameter Value Explanation Specifies the phase of the delay sound. Selecting INVERSE inverts the phase. This effect is more NORMAL, DELAY PHASE pronounced when INVERSE used together with modulation. * Only when TYPE is SDE-3000. Specifies the phase of the delay sound feedback.
REVERB This effect adds reverberation to the sound. REVERB types Type Explanation Simulates plate reverberation (a reverb unit that uses the vibration of PLATE a metallic plate). Provides a metallic sound with a distinct upper range. Simulates the reverberation in ROOM a small room.
Page 54
REVERB parameters Parameter Value Explanation TYPE Refer to REVERB types Adjusts the length REVERB TIME 0.1s–10.0s (time) of reverberation. Adjusts the time until 0 ms–500 PRE DELAY the reverb sound starts to output. Adjusts the volume of EFFECT LEVEL 0–100 the reverb sound.
Page 55
Parameter Value Explanation Adjusts the sensitivity. COLOR When the value is set (TYPE = SPRING 0–100 higher, the effect is only) obtained even with a weak picking.
NS (NOISE SUPPRESSOR) This effect reduces the noise and hum picked up by bass guitar pickups. Since it suppresses the noise in synchronization with the envelope of the bass guitar sound (the way in which the bass sound decays over time), it has very little effect on the bass guitar sound, and does not harm the natural character of the sound.
Page 57
Parameter Value Explanation Adjusts the time from when the noise RELEASE 0–100 suppressor begins to function until the noise level reaches “0”.
PEDAL WAH This lets you produce a pedal wah effect. Parameter Value Explanation PEDAL Adjusts the position of the 0–100 POSITION wah pedal. Selects the tone produced PEDAL MIN 0–100 when the heel of the pedal is depressed. Selects the tone produced PEDAL MAX 0–100 when the toe of the pedal...
FOOT VOLUME This is a volume control effect. Parameter Value Explanation Sets the volume when the VOLUME MIN 0–100 heel of the EXP Pedal is depressed. Sets the volume when VOLUME MAX 0–100 the toe of the EXP Pedal is depressed.
