INTRODUCTION
This bulletin covers the total quality inspection (TQI) of the 2019 MDX. It includes these procedures:
1. Remove the Exterior Protective Coatings
2. Install the Fuse
3. Remove the Interior Protective Coverings
4. Install the Floor Mats
5. Check the Battery
6. Install the Body Plugs
7. Install the Front License Plate Holder and Rear License Plate Bolts
8. Set the Tire Pressures, and Initiate the TPMS
9. Do the PCM Idle Learn Procedure
10. Activate the Audio Unit
11. Set the Clock (Trim Levels Without Navigation)
12. Set the Compass Zone (Trim Levels Without Navigation)
13. Check the Compass Calibration (Trim Levels Without Navigation)
14. Check/Refresh the SiriusXM
15. Check Driver Assistance Indicators
16. Check the Head-Up Warning (HUW) Indicator (If Equipped)

    18. Check the Moonroof One-Touch Feature 19. Check the Rear Entertainment System (RES) (If Equipped) To do a TQI on a trim level with the navigation system, be sure to complete S/B 18-038, 2019 MDX: TQI of the Navigation System. This bulletin also includes this new model service information: 1.
  • Page 3 2. When the indicator blinks, touch the keyless remote to the ENGINE START/STOP button. The indicator will switch from blinking to steady when communication is complete. 3. Start the engine by pressing the ENGINE START/STOP button while pressing the brake pedal. You must start the engine within 10 seconds of touching the remote to the button.
  • Page 4 August 2017. If any of the interior is dirty, clean it with mild soap or an Acura cleaning product such as Leather & Vinyl Cleaner (P/N 08700-9214A) or Carpet Spot Remover (P/N 08700-9215A). Clean real wood surfaces with a mild detergent and a soft, damp cloth.
  • Page 5 To access the battery for testing, follow these steps: 5.1. Starting on the passenger side, lift up the far edge of the front bulkhead cover. You will hear a pop as the striker in the cover releases from the latch in the body. 5.2.
  • Page 6 When you are done, place the front bulkhead cover into position and press down firmly at each striker location until you hear a click. Make sure the bulkhead center section outer corners are tucked under the grille seal. Vehicle Exterior (Vehicle Raised to Full Height) Install the Body Plugs Install the body plugs as shown.

    Under-Hood (Engine Idling) Do the PCM Idle Learn Procedure To ensure a steady engine idle, do the PCM idle learn procedure as follows after installing the No. 16 BACKUP MAIN (10 A) fuse. 9.1. Start the engine with the transmission in Park, and make sure all electrical items (A/C, audio unit, rear window defogger, lights, etc.) are turned off.
  • Page 9 Set the Clock (Trim Levels Without Navigation) To set the clock, follow these steps: 11.1. Turn the ignition to ON. 11.2. Press the SETTINGS button. 11.3. Turn the interface dial to select System Settings, then press the ENTER button. 11.4. Turn the interface dial to select Clock Adjustment, then press the ENTER button. 11.5.
  • Page 10 Check the Compass Calibration (Trim Levels Without Navigation) If the compass shows the wrong direction or the CAL indicator blinks, manually calibrate the system with this procedure: 13.1. Turn the ignition to ON. 13.2. On the top screen of any audio source, press and hold the ENTER button for 5 seconds. The display will switch to the Compass Settings screen.

    Check the Head-Up Warning (HUW) Indicator (If Equipped) When you first turn the ignition to ON, the HUW indicator should blink and then go off. ® ® Check Bluetooth HandsFreeLink (HFL) To ensure HFL works and is ready to use, start the engine, then press and hold the Hang-up/Back button on the steering wheel for 10 seconds.
  • Page 12 Check the Rear Entertainment System (RES) (If Equipped) The RES lets front seat passengers listen to one audio source through the speakers, while the second- and third-row passengers watch a DVD or listen to a different audio source through wireless headphones. There are also two audio jacks with individual volume controls at the back of the center console for wired headphones.
  • Page 13 NEW MODEL SERVICE INFORMATION MDX A-Spec The A-Spec trim level adds exclusive wheels, black-out exterior trim, Alcantara seat inserts, and sport-inspired interior finishes. Captain's Chairs The MDX with the Technology and Entertainment Packages now comes with captain's chairs for second-row passengers, with a pass-through to access third-row seating.
