Functional Check of Cart
Prior to using the EL-53000 please follow the instructions below to ensure the cart is in proper working order.
1. Inspect all casters. Check their rolling and swivel functions by rolling the cart on a level surface in
several directions. Do not use cart if they are damaged, loose, or broken.
2. Ensure emergency brake system is functioning properly. Pull the brake lever (or step on the pedal)
and try to push the cart around. The casters on the side of the brake lever/handle should NOT roll or
swivel. See Figure 1.
3. Check horizontal adjustment of skids. Do this by pulling the plunger pin knob and sliding the skid left
and right. Make sure the pin is able to engage all respective slots. Do this check at each of the four
locations on the cart. See Figure 6.
4. Ensure all vertical adjustment screws are well greased before operation. If any screws look dry apply
a generous amount of grease while running screw up and down. Vertical adjustments should be easily
operated by hand in an unloaded state. See Figure 5.
Emergency Brake System
This cart is equipped with an emergency
brake. When engaged, both the rotation and
swivel of the two casters are locked, on the
lever/pedal end of the cart. This feature can
be used to quickly and safely bring the cart
to a stop in the event of a runaway or any
unintended motion of the cart.
1. Locate the Emergency Brake Lever/Pedal.
See Figure 1.
2. Use either the Hand Lever or the Foot
Pedal to engage the emergency brakes.
See Figures 2 and 3.
3. To release Emergency Brake kick Foot
Pedal in the upward position. See Figure 4.
