Cobalt 3000 trouble shooting guide
Computer won't communicate with the laser.
Is the laser powered on?
In Lasercad click on "Select Mode" button. Double click on the checked device then click find Com.
Did you install the USB driver – found on the installation CD.
Check the USB cable going into the back of the laser to make sure it's not plugged in upside down.
Try another USB port on your computer.
Try another PC
Laser won't etch the plate.
Make sure you did not peel the clear film off of the metal plate. You should only remove the blue film.
Check your power settings and parameters in Lasercad. (Right hand side of the screen under Layer
options)
Check your focus to the Crystalaze plate using the focus tool located on the mirror post inside the laser.
Check to see if the red interlock light is on. (Located inside the right hand, back corner of the machine)
Make sure that all mirrors, and the focal lens are clean.
Make sure your focus lens is installed with the curved side facing up.
Danger! ‐ wear standard safety glasses when performing the following steps.
Remove the top lid, and check the focal height using the focus tool attached to the mirror post.
This tool can also be used to bypass the interlock on the right side of the laser for test and alignment
purposes.
Check the laser alignment – Follow the video procedure located on our ftp site here:

Make sure the laser tube located on the back of the laser is not loose. If it is, then tighten and following
the alignment procedure.
