Parts, Specs and Markings

The below instructions explain the correct use of your equipment. Only general techniques and functions are described. It is the responsibility of the user to understand the proper and safe use of this equipment. Any misuse of the equipment can lead to unsafe conditions. Please carefully read the instructions prior to use.

FIELD OF APPLICATION

  • Ninja, a rope clamp, is not Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • This device is only an accessory to facilitate rope ascending, it does not prevent falling from height
  • Never connect this device to yourself using a lanyard
  • Know the limitations of the product and do not exceed them
  • Do not use this equipment for any activities other than described in the manual
  • Use only with static, semi-static, or dynamic ropes (core & sheath)
  • Do not use on metal cables or plied ropes


Activities involving the use of this product are inherently dangerous. You are responsible for your own actions. Before using this equipment, you must:

  • Read and understand all instructions of use
  • Receive specific training of its proper use
  • Become familiar with its capabilities and limitations
  • Understand and accept the risks involved

Failure to understand and obey these warnings may result in severe injury or death.

INSPECTION LIST

Check carefully before each use:

  • Verify the ascender body is free of cracks, deformation, or corrosion
  • Visually inspect webbing & stitching are free of cuts or signs of wear or abrasion
  • Cams rotate freely without jamming and springs of the cam secure rope in locking position
  • Cam ribs are free of dents or wear, no dirt is present in the device, free any obstacles that may interfere with operation of the cams
  • Buckles are functioning properly allowing full adjustment

During each use always verify the correct placement of the rope inside the ascender.

INSTALLATION

  • Place the device on the inside of desired foot
  • Using the horizontal & vertical strapping adjust the ascender to the desired location

  • Ensure protective webbing sleeve is positioned below the footwear sole
  • Tension buckles as necessary for secure fit

INSERTION OF ROPE

  • Place rope inside the fairlead

  • Separate the cams and install the rope

FUNCTION TESTING

  • Before use, check the device advances freely and locks in desired position

PROGRESSION

Single Rope

Simultaneous Progression

  • Use right or left Ninja for ascending single rope, in combination with a left or right rope grab, a chest ascender and foot loop. Ascent by pushing both legs together

Alternating Progression

  • Using Ninja on either leg, alternate by pushing one leg after the other sequentially

  • Using two devices combined with a twin handle rope grab ascent by pushing both legs together

CARE & MAINTENANCE

Cleaning: If soiled, rinse in clean warm water (maximum temperature 25°C) with mild neutral detergent at appropriate dilution (Ph range 5.5-8.5), thoroughly rinse. When the equipment becomes wet, either from being in use or when due to cleaning, it should be allowed to dry naturally, and should be kept away from direct heat. Light surface corrosion may be removed with a wire brush (no power tools). Retire if corrosion is heavy.

Lubrication: Lubricate the cam mechanism with a silicone based lubricant or dry graphite. This should be carried out after cleaning and drying. Cleaning and lubrication may cure a defective mechanism, if it does not, replace the product immediately.

Storage: During transportation or after any necessary cleaning, drying and lubrication, store unpacked in a cool, dry, dark place in a chemically neutral environment away from excessive heat or heat sources, high humidity, sharp edges, corrosives or other possible causes of damage. Do not store wet.

GUARANTEE

Harken Industrial guarantees this product for 3 years against any defects in materials or manufacture. The guarantee does not cover this product from normal wear and tear, oxidation, modification or alternation, incorrect use or storage, poor maintenance, accidental damage, negligence or any usage for which the product was not designed.
