ARNING Danger of burns when opening
the hood
If you open the hood when the engine has
overheated or during a re in the engine com-
partment, you could come into contact with
hot gases or other escaping operating uids.
Before opening the hood, allow the
#
engine to cool down.
In the event of a re in the engine com-
#
partment, keep the hood closed and call
the re service.
& W W ARNING
ARNING Risk of scalding from hot cool-
ant
The engine cooling system is pressurized, par-
ticularly when the engine is warm. If you open
the cap, you could be scalded by hot coolant
spraying out.
Let the engine cool down before opening
#
the cap.
When opening the cap, wear protective
#
gloves and safety glasses.
Open the cap slowly to release pressure.
#
Allow the engine and the engine cooling system to
cool down before checking the coolant level or
re lling coolant.
