FOR YOUR SAFETY: • Never Enter Spreader Box While In Operation For Any Reason. • Only Properly Instructed People Should Operate The Spreader. Do Not Allow Children Or Inexperienced Persons To Operate The Spreader.
MANDATORY SAFETY SHUTDOWN PROCEDURE BEFORE unclogging, cleaning, adjusting, lubricating or servicing the unit: 1. Disengage the tractor PTO. 2. Shut off the tractor engine, remove the ignition key and take it with you. 3. Wait for all movement to stop. 4.
PRESSURIZED HYDRAULIC FLUID AND EQUIPMENT SAFETY • Only adequately trained and qualified persons should work on hydraulic systems. You may be severely injured or killed by being crushed under a falling piece of equipment. Always have transport locks in place and frame sufficiently blocked when working on any implement. •...
PRE-OPERATION GENERAL Read the entire Owner’s Manual before attempting to operate this manure spreader. Before attempting any maintenance or repairs; always be sure all rotating parts have stopped and that the tractor is shut off. Disconnect the PTO, relieve all hydraulic pressure and disconnect hydraulic hoses. WARNING NEVER OPERATE SPREADER WITH ANY GUARDS OR SHIELDS REMOVED.
TRACTOR/TRAILER PLUG WIRING The spreader is designed to work with a standard 7-Way, Round Pin Plug. For all lights and accessories to work correctly, ensure that your tractor is wired as illustrated. 1- GROUND 2- FLOOD LIGHTS 3- LEFT TURN SIGNAL / HAZARD 4- BRAKE LIGHTS 5- RIGHT TURN SIGNAL / HAZARD 6- TAIL / RUNNING LIGHTS...
Open and Closed Center Hydraulic Systems • Most late model tractors use a Closed Center hydraulic system with a variable displacement pump which only pumps oil as required. This system is commonly CCLS (Closed Center Load Sensing), also known as PFC (Pressure and Flow Compensated). The ball valve on the spreader should be closed. •...
OPERATION DANGER CAUTION NEVER ENTER THE SPREADER BOX FOR ANY DO NOT USE JACK EXCEPT WHEN SPREADER REASON WITHOUT FIRST DISCONNECTING IS EMPTY. JACK WILL NOT SUPPORT ADDED PTO SHAFT FROM TRACTOR. DO NOT ALLOW WEIGHT FROM LOAD. UNBALANCED WEIGHT MAY RESULT IN UNEXPECTED “TIP UP”...
TRANSPORTING WARNING CAUTION DO NOT TOW AT SPEEDS GREATER THAN 20 REGULARLY CLEAN OFF THE REFLECTIVE TAPE MPH. FAILURE TO HEED MAY RESULT IN AT THE REAR AND SIDES OF THE SPREADER WHEN TRANSPORTING IT ON THE HIGHWAY. SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH. While towing the spreader, check for traffic constantly.
UNLOADING The rear beaters have been designed and to provide the best spread pattern for most liquids and semi-solid manure. However, the pattern will vary for each specific condition. The factors that contribute most to differing patterns will be moisture content and the amount and length of bedding material. For most typical conditions, the spread pattern should be uniform and about 40 ft wide or more.
Beater Overload In the event the beater drive becomes overloaded (such as with a clog), the clutch on the rear drive assembly will automatically disengage, causing loss of power to the beaters and an audible clattering noise. If this happens, perform the following: 1.
Hydraulic Apron, Speed Control Options Standard Flow Control: The standard system utilizes the tractor’s flow control. This system requires that the tractor have an adjustable flow control lever or knob. There is no adjustable flow control valve on the spreader with this option. However, the valve on the spreader regulates and limits the flow to the hydraulic motor.
MAINTENANCE, ADJUSTMENTS, & LUBRICATION WHEEL & TIRE MAINTENANCE WHEELS: Check after first hour of towing and periodically thereafter. The wheel studs should be torqued to 297 foot pounds in a crisscross pattern. TIRE PRESSURES: 1600R20 Recommended Pressure: 75 PSI 600/55 x 26.5 Recommended Pressure: 50 PSI Wheel Hub Lubrication Remove the wheels and hubs annually.
Lube. Change Oil Every 2 Years With Regular Usage. Grease Drive Shaft Bearings Under Spreader Box, One Pump Every 8 Hours. MS400- 4 Locations, MS485-5 Locations. 3-4 Bearings Under The Box Accessed By Grease Lines In Front Of Axle On RH Side Of Spreader, 1 Bearing In Front Of Spreader Under The PTO Guard.
ADJUSTMENTS - INSPECT APRON TENSION DAILY!! FAILURE TO KEEP THE APRON PROPERLY TENSIONED WILL RESULT IN POOR PERFORMANCE AND EXCESSIVE CHAIN SAG, CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE APRON AND BEATER ASSEMBLY. A. The standard tensioner system is adjusted by (4) bolts located at the front of the spreader. Turn the bolts to pull the tensioner blocks forward and remove all slack.
