PCMCIA Cards
The PG 720 is equipped with two PCMCIA ports. You can plug
communication modules for modem, fax modem, ISDN, Token Ring,
Ethernet, memory expansions, and SCSI interface modules in credit-card
format into these ports. You can either plug two type II cards or one type III
card.
Please note the following instructions while working with PCMCIA cards.
Caution
!
Risk of damage to PCMCIA cards!
You must insert the PCMCIA card into a 68-pin connector so that the
connecting side with the two coding lugs is facing upwards.
If you try to plug the PCMCIA card in the wrong way around, your
programming device or PCMCIA card will be damaged!

Proceed as follows while working with memory cards:

Operating SIMATIC S5 submodules and SIMATIC memory cards
simultaneously is not permitted. The following table shows the operating
modes permitted and the maximum possible current consumption for the
PCMCIA port.

Peak currents of 650 mA at 5 V based on 3 s are permitted.
