2021 TLX: TQI and New Model Service Information
Supersedes 20-034, dated May 14, 2021, to update the information highlighted in yellow.

INTRODUCTION
This bulletin covers the Total Quality Inspection (TQI) of the 2021 TLX. It includes these procedures:
1. Install the Backup Fuse
2. Check the Battery
3. Cancel Maintenance Mode
4. Fuel the Vehicle
5. Remove the Exterior Protective Coatings
6. Remove the Interior Protective Coverings
7. Install the Floor Mats
8. Install the Body Plugs
9. Install the Front Strakes
10. Install the Front License Plate Holder and Rear License Plate Hardware
11. Set the Tire Pressures, and Initiate the TPMS
12. Do the PCM Idle Learn Procedure
13. Do the CKP-Pattern Learn Procedure
14. Check the Power Seat Adjustments
15. Exit the Anti-Theft Mode
16. Check/Refresh the SirusXM® Radio Demo Service (Except Alaska and Hawaii)

  • Page 3 2. When the indicator blinks, touch the keyless remote to the ENGINE START/STOP button. The indicator will switch from blinking to steady when communication is complete. 3. Start the engine by pressing the ENGINE START/STOP button while applying the brake pedal. You must start the engine within 10 seconds of touching the remote to the button.

  • Page 5 Cancel Maintenance Mode Before leaving the factory, some late-build models, including the Type-S, are put into maintenance mode. Since the backup fuse is removed for shipping, this keeps the MIL from coming on from a communication loss between the PCM and the gauge control module.
  • Page 6 Carefully remove all items with clean hands to avoid soiling any surfaces. If any of the interior is dirty, clean it with mild soap or an Acura cleaning product such as Leather & Vinyl Cleaner (P/N 08700-9214A) or Carpet Spot Remover (P/N 08700-9215A).

  • Page 8 Vehicle Exterior (Vehicle Lowered to Half Height) Install the Front License Plate Holder and Rear License Plate Hardware If state regulations require the use of a front license plate, install the front license plate holder as shown. The remaining screws are used to attach the license plates. Vehicle Exterior (Vehicle Lowered to Ground) Set the Tire Pressures, and Initiate the TPMS To prevent flat spots during vehicle shipping and storage, the tires are inflated to over 40 psi.
  • Page 9 4. Test-drive the vehicle for at least 1 minute above 22 mph. If the MID does not show the tire pressures, make sure you completed the test-drive as specified. NOTE: This vehicle does not have a spare tire. Instead, it comes with a tire repair kit stored under the trunk lining. An optional spare tire wheel kit can be ordered separately.
  • Page 10 Vehicle Interior Check the Power Seat Adjustments • Check the power seat slide, height, and tilt adjustments. • Check the 4-way power lumbar adjustment. NOTE: You can move the lumbar up/down and expand it outward/retract it inward. Controls for lumbar adjustment are next to the seat-back tilt adjustment on the bottom outer sides of the seat.
  • Page 11 ® Check/Refresh the SiriusXM Radio Dealer Demo Service (Except Alaska and Hawaii) ® The audio system comes from the factory activated with the SiriusXM Radio dealer demo service. Once you install the fuse (see Install the Fuses), the system receives the full range of available channels. You can see a full list of available channels at www.siriusxm.com.

  • Page 13 Check the Wiper/Washer Operation Check operation of the windshield wipers and nozzles. Check Wi-Fi Operation 1. Press the Home button, then Settings, Connections, and Wi-Fi. 2. Make sure the vehicle is in Network mode. If needed, select Change Mode to switch to Network, then select Save. 3.
  • Page 14 NEW MODEL SERVICE INFORMATION 1. ECU Key Write For the 2021 TLX, you will need to complete an ECU key write procedure every time you replace certain ECUs. See the online owner's manual for details. 2. Radar Cover Removal The radar cover has two anti-theft clips attached to it. Be sure to review the removal process as indicated in the service information before removing the cover.
  • Page 15 3. High-Gloss Door Pillar Trim The door pillar trims on the 2021 TLX come with a high-gloss finish instead of a matte finish. To keep that finish looking new, be sure to treat it with a micro-abrasive polish such as McGuiar’s Scratch X 2.0 or 3M Scratch Remover.
