Did an up date today as offered by Epson. Now my XP4200 printer prints very slow, 10 minutes to do four pages. The printer was OK before the up date.

Your Epson XP-4200 printer may be printing slowly after the update due to one or more of the following reasons:
1. Unnecessary applications are running on your computer or device. Close them to improve speed. 2. The print quality setting is set to high. Lower the quality setting to increase speed. 3. Bidirectional printing is disabled. Enable it in the printer driver settings to allow faster printing. 4. Composite black is being used, which can reduce print speed. This happens when the printer uses color inks to create black instead of using only black ink.
Check and adjust these settings to improve printing speed.

I have only printed in black and not to a great extent. The black ink ran out and I presumed I could replace it. I bought a new black cartridge but it seems that the machine demands a new complete set. As I rarely print in colour replacing a complete set when I only need black is expensive and wasteful. Have I misunderstood or should I just give up and buy something cheaper to run?
