DEALER INSTALLATION GUIDE
Please read the DEALER INSTALLATION GUIDE carefully BEFORE
INSTALLING the Electronic Air Cleaner.
IMPORTANT
This unit is designed to operate from a SUPPLY OF 24 VOLTS AC AT
2VA.
DO NOT CONNECT TO 110 V AC POWER!
Connecting the DefendRx 5000 Electronic Air Purifier to a higher voltage
than specified may cause damage and/or failure of equipment.
ELECTRICAL HOOKUP: Most forced air heating or cooling systems, or
heat pumps, have an internal 24 V AC power source to which the MODEL
8000 ELECTRONIC AIR CLEANER can be safely connected without
overloading other circuits. CHECK if the system is protected by a low
voltage fuse and make sure connections are made on the FUSED SIDE. If
no fuse is present, a low-voltage in line fuse should be installed. BEFORE
connecting the unit to this power source, POSITIVELY identify that this IS
a 24 V (max 30 V) AC source, and not some other voltage. This is usually
best accomplished with a test meter.
NOTE: IF ONE TERMINAL OF POWER SOURCE IS GROUNDED,
HOOK THE SOLID BLACK WIRE TO THIS TERMINAL (C in Fig.1).

Connect the wire with black & white stripes to terminal G / FAN
(Fig.1) to ensure that the air cleaner is not energized in the absence
of air flow. Use a Voltmeter to confirm 24 volt (not 110 volt) on
unmarked terminals.
When wiring is completed, test the power by pressing the pushdown
switch (Fig.2) in the front of the cabinet. If there is power, the power
indicator (Fig. 3) will illuminate.

Next, insert the lower clips (Fig.4) of the door into the slots at the
bottom, then move the hook (A in Fig. 5) at the upper end over the
rim (B in Fig. 5) of the cabinet, and push it down till the rim gets all
the way into the hook.
