Possible root cause
Charge handle broken
Manual charge handle unable to be pulled
Manual charging handle not engaging
Possible worn parts will not allow manual charge to engage
Manual charge handle engages, but cannot reach full charge
Manual arm not consistently engaging
Charging mechanism jamming
Motor operator skips during charging cycle due to
gear teeth being out of alignment
Improper motor operator mounting
Incorrect motor mounting
Insufficient voltage/current to load or leads
Levering device door switch out of adjustment
Secondary breaker contacts not engaged
Loose terminal screws on cutoff switches
Motor continuously runs
Possible root cause
Breaker is already closed with flag indication error
An external interlock such as a key or cable
Closing spring not charged.
Insufficient voltage/current to spring release.
Pushbutton cover and/or prevent close cover blocking access to
CLOSE pushbutton.
Lev in door is open (drawout breakers only)
Continuous shunt trip energized
Undervoltage release (UVR) de-energized
Mechanical obstructions
Broken trip actuator (TA) resetter or reset spring
Accessory connections not correct
Trip indicator (also known as overcurrent trip switch) not reset
Other unidentified issues
Lev in door slightly opened and acting upon interlock
Voltage present at the shunt trip terminals
Off pushbutton not full returned
Loose key interlock linkage assembly or interference
with key interlock cable
Breaker attempts to close on overload or fault currents
Neutral sensor polarity incorrect (ground fault)
Shunt trip coil is burned causing armature to remain extended
Other unidentified issues

Actions
Install replacement handle kit
Verify breaker is not charged. Higher current breakers require more
force to charge. Apply more force to charging handle but do not
exceed 120 lb. If problem persists, a possible mechanism issue may
be present, contact Eaton Electrical Services & Systems
Check to see if breaker is already charged
Install replacement handle kit
Apply force to manual charging not to exceed 120 lb
