Hydrant shortening set

1. Intended use
With the hydrant shortening set, Hawle freeflow underground hydrants can be adapted to the desired pipe cover
depth on site. In addition to the operating instructions, the applicable standards and regulations, accident pre-
vention regulations and the regulations of the employers' liability insurance associations must be observed and
adhered to in both installations.
2. Machine description
The shortening set, consisting of grip ring, seal carrier and coupling plate, enables the hydrant to be shortened later,
even when installed. By screwing to the coupling plate, the grip ring is friction-locked to the standpipe.
3. Assembly

Initial situation! Bring the hydrant in-
to a depressurized operating state.
The lowest shortening height is 20
cm above the upper edge of the gear
unit housing (see dimension arrow).

Slide the new coupling plate onto
the standpipe and PP pipe.

Insert the dirt seal into the seal
carrier

Remove dog clutch and dirt seal.

Spread the grip ring open and
slide it onto the standpipe.

Pull the coupling plate upwards
and screw it together with the dog
clutch. The tightening torque of
100 Nm must be observed.

Loosen the clamping screw on
the operation square cap. Remo-
ve operation square cap and pro-
tection cap.

Press the seal carrier onto the
standpipe as far as it will go using
manual pressure.

Mount the protection cap in the
PP pipe.

Shorten and deburr the standpi-
pe, PP pipe and square pipe by
the same amount.
Remove coupling plate.

Push the grip ring back onto the
seal carrier as far as it will go.

Place operating square on square
pipe and fix with clamping screw.
