TROUBLESHOOTING

If, after following the steps in the chart below, the problem still exists, please consult your nearest JVC dealer.
The player is a microcomputer-controlled device. External noise and interference (from a TV, a radio, etc.)
might prevent it from functioning properly. In such cases, first disconnect its power supply unit (battery pack,
AC Power Adapter/Charger, etc.) and wait a few minutes; and then re-connect it and proceed as usual from
the beginning.
Power
SYMPTOM
1. No power is supplied.
Video and D.S.C. Playback
SYMPTOM
2. Play, Rewind and Fast-Forward
functions do not work.
3. The tape is moving, but there is
no picture.
4. Blocks of noise appear during
playback, or there is no
playback picture and the
screen becomes blue.
5. A memory card cannot be
played back.
6. The image on the 4:3 TV is
elongated vertically (squeeze).
7. The screen of the LCD monitor
is blackened or blocks of noise
appear on its right side but 4/
9 is not pressed.
8. When the screen is under
direct sunlight, the screen
becomes red or black for an
instant.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
1. • The power is not connected
properly.
• The battery is dead.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
2. • The Playback Mode Switch is
set to "MEMORY".
3. • Your TV has AV input
terminals, but is not set to its
VIDEO mode.
• The cassette holder cover is
open.
4. •
• The tape is recorded in LP
mode.
5. • The Playback Mode Switch is
set to "VIDEO".
6. • This occurs during recording
in HD or SD mode when a
tape (its erase protection tab
is set to "REC") is loaded.
• The component video cable
and S-video or audio/video
cable are connected
simultaneously.
7. • The S-Video or audio/video
cable is connected and "S/AV
INPUT" (
pg. 29) is set to
"ON".
8. • This is not a malfunction.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. • Connect the AC Power
Adapter/Charger securely.

• Replace the dead battery
with a fully charged one.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
2. • Set the Playback Mode
Switch to "VIDEO".
3. • Set the TV to the mode or
channel appropriate for
video playback. (
• Close the cassette holder
cover. (

4. • Clean the video heads with
an optional cleaning
cassette.
• This is not a malfunction.
5. • Set the Playback Mode
Switch to "MEMORY".
6. • This is not a malfunction.
• Disconnect either of two
cables.
7. • This is not a malfunction.
After dubbing, set "S/AV
INPUT" back to "OFF".
