2.3 Connecting the probe

This adaptor is used with the CTM conductimeter probe (Part no. 701 329),
which is connected by two green banana plugs located in front of the adaptor
case.
For

protection
from
recommended that the cord of the probe marked by a white ring be
connected to the socket marked by a white circle.
The adaptor supplies power to the probe and adapts the measured signal to
the input of the ESAO interface.

2.4 Calibrating the probe

Note on temperature compensation:
Conductivity is a magnitude whose value depends on the temperature of the
solution in which the measurements are made. The influence of temperature
on the value measured is of the order of 2% per degree.
Temperature compensation helps bring the conductivity value to the one that
will be measured if the solution was at a temperature of 25 °C.
It is thus possible to compare the measurements made at different
temperatures.
Calibration
To obtain accurate measurements, it is recommended that the device be
calibrated before starting a series of experiments. Calibration is required
when the probe is replaced.
Ensure that the temperature compensation adjustment button is set to the
temperature of the standard solution adapted to the rated capacity used
(refer to the table below).
Immerse the CTM probe in a beaker containing the standard solution.
Press the calibration button until the value displayed is equal to the
conductivity value at 25 °C indicated on the flask of the standard solution.
Then adjust the temperature button of the solution studied before making the
measurement.

Attention: It is advisable not to change the rated capacity during an
experiment. In fact, the device being calibrated for a given rated capacity
may display different values from one rated capacity to the other.
