4.2 Mounting the XLR8 Scan Head

There are several ways to mount the XLR8 Scan Head. For mounting with the smallest and
least amount of hardware, the head may be directly mounted using the mounting holes
provided on the input plate of the head. See the outline drawing below.
In situations where the head is to be mounted to an existing mounting hole pattern, such as an
industry standard mounting pattern, it may be necessary to use in intermediate interface plate.
This plate is available as an option from Nutfield Technology. See the outline drawing below
with interface plate. Contact your sales representative for further information.
The use of some output objective lenses may require the use of an intermediate interface plate.
This is usually the case when the lens has a diameter which is too large and protrudes beyond
the input plate of the head. Most single CO2 lenses and smaller YAG lenses do not require an
intermediate interface plate. Some examples of lenses requiring an intermediate interface plate
are the YAG f=163 and f=254 lenses. Contact your sales representative for further information.

4.3 Interconnections

The following figure depicts the connection of the XLR8 Scan Head and the PC-interface
boards to the various other Customer-supplied parts of the system. Typically there is a 25-pin
D connector, which carries all signals and a 9-pin D connector to carry power. In some
instances, the 25-pin connector can be configured to carry both signals and power.
