After playing the game for say 10 minutes lights begin to flicker then they go out only a couple of the light ramps come back on. The game still plays but points don't register on the areas of no light. On another matter that may be related occasionally the is a loud sound that interrupts the games music - bang like noise that only happens occasionally. I bought the machine new from Pinball Heaven in December 2024 and the code I have is 1.12

The flickering lights and lack of point registration on a Dutch Pinball *The Big Lebowski* machine could be caused by an issue with the opto sensors. The opto sensors detect when pins are hit and fallen. If the opto is not triggering properly, the machine may not register hits or points. Possible causes include:

1. Misaligned Opto Sensor – If the opto is not properly aligned in front of the hole, it may not detect the ball correctly.
2. Wiring Issues – Faulty or loose wiring to the opto sensor could prevent it from functioning.
3. Wide Opto Beam – The shrinking sleeve on the transmitter narrows the beam. If the beam is too wide, the ball may not fully block it, causing missed detections.
4. Switch Test Needed – Running a switch test can help determine if the opto switch is triggering when obstructed.

Checking and adjusting the opto alignment, wiring, and beam width may resolve the issue.

Dutch Pinball – Technical Support TBL FAQ rev 0.51 Principal of Operations The way the bowling alley-pins work is as follows. The software calculates the position of the bowling launcher by detecting the left, right and middle position via switches. It also knows the speed of the launcher so it can determine where the launcher is at the moment you push the launch button.

  • Page 21: Possible Cause Of Zero Pins Dropping

Dutch Pinball – Technical Support TBL FAQ rev 0.51 Possible cause of zero pins dropping? As explained the opto doesn’t decide which pins have to drop, it just times the coils to pull up the pins which need to fall. So, if the opto doesn’t trigger this means the pins will not be pulled up and the software will not show on the display pins are hit and fallen.
  • Page 22: Bowling Pin Coil Check

Dutch Pinball – Technical Support TBL FAQ rev 0.51 Bowling pin coil check If you see a bowling pin is not dropping it can also be caused because the coil of that pin is faulty. This can be checked in the Testmenu – Solenoids.
  • Page 23: Stuck Releasepin

Dutch Pinball – Technical Support TBL FAQ rev 0.51 Stuck releasepin If the bowling ball is not released of a launched ball is immediately drained this can be because the coil is not firing but if you hear it firing check if the release pin is not rubbing against the wood. Can also be that if its rubbing it only slowly returns back in position and a new ball already has passed it.
