McPC Series
Ethernet-based, PC Card Media Converters
McPC Series Media Converters are ideal for Fiber-to-the-
Desktop (FTTD) applications and for companies with frequent
workstation moves and changes. Installing inside a PC or
workstation, and plugging into an adjacent network interface
card (NIC), these compact units eliminate the need to place
Media Converters on top of desks or computers, reducing
clutter of cords and adapters at the workspace.
The McPC series includes:
10 Mbps Ethernet (TP/BNC)
cable up to 300 m long, to the desktop
100 Mbps Fast Ethernet (TX/FX)
NIC cards running at Fast Ethernet speeds
10/100 Mbps Switching Ethernet (TP-TX/FX or /SX)
converter as well as a media converter, 10/100 Switching
McPC converts 10 or 100 Mbps over copper to 100 Mbps
over fiber
10/100 Mbps Auto-Negotiation (10/100)
converter only, converts copper to fiber, both running either
10 Mbps or 100 Mbps. The correct speed is selected
automatically.
1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet (TX/SX or /LX)
1000 Mbps over copper to 1000 Mbps over fiber. Ideal for
bringing Gigabit speed connectivity to the desktop.
McPC converters accommodate crossover or pass through
cables, with either a pushbutton MDI-II/MDI-X switch or
Autocross, a feature which automatically selects the correct
operating mode. Units also feature handy status LEDS to assist
in network diagnostics and troubleshooting. In addition, McPC
TX/SX or /FX and McPC 10/100 include troubleshooting features
that make it easy to isolate fiber breaks.
