    Checkout guide Checking operational charging To check whether the battery charges properly during operation, use a discharged battery pack or a battery pack that has less than 50% of the total power remaining when installed in the computer. Perform operational charging. If the battery status indicator or icon does not turn on, remove the battery pack and let it return to room temperature.

A small number of dots that are missing, discolored, or always lighted is characteristic of TFT LCD technology, but excessive pixel problems can cause viewing concerns.

    Read this section carefully before replacing any FRU. Screw notices Loose screws can cause a reliability problem. In IBM ThinkPad computer, this problem is addressed with special nylon-coated screws that have the following characteristics: v They maintain tight connections.

    1030 Hard-disk drive Attention Do not drop or apply any shock to the hard-disk drive. The hard-disk drive is sensitive to physical shock. Incorrect handling can cause damage and permanent loss of data. Before removing the drive, have the user make a backup copy of all the information on the drive if possible.
