Quidway® S8500 100M Ethernet Interface Board
Main Characteristics
Flexible Configurations and Expandability
The 100 M interface board can work in any service slot of S8500. Up to three, five, eight
and twelve FE interface boards can be configured on S8502/S8505/S8508/S8512
together respectively, implementing high speed service switch. The user selects 100 M
interface board of different port densities as required and selects optical modules
according to the transmission distance.

The interface board is connected with other interface board through the switching network
chip Crossbar in the system. Any port service of the same interface board or different
interface boards can realize non-blocking switching according to it. Meanwhile, the service
of different ports can aggregate to some interface board port to realize high-speed long
distance transmission.
Hot Swap Function
All interface boards support the hot swap function. The user can plug in/out interface
boards as required. It will not affect the service of other interface boards. The
management system can detect and recognize the interface board in real time and
implement auto configuration, thus ensuring that the existing service is available
continually to the best degree. Meanwhile, the optical module can implement hot swap
and plug-and-play.
