Removing the sideplate
!
If you remove the sideplate immediately after you shut down your computer, the
components may be too hot to touch. Wait until the internal parts of the system
unit cool down before you attempt to remove the sideplate.
To remove the sideplate:

Remove the screw from the mid-right of the metal sideplate.

Slide the sideplate backward and out.
Removing the PCV-J100 sideplate
Inserting an Add-in Board
Your computer has one open PCI expansion slot, enabling you to install add-in
boards to expand the functionality of your system.
Some models, such as Configure-to-Order systems, may already contain installed
add-in cards.

Make sure you observe the proper safety precautions when you add boards to
your Sony computer. See "Notes on Use" in the VAIO User Guide.
