Two RS-232 communication ports, J30 and J31 on HMS-317 and J24 and J25 located on the HMS-318 backplane
(see

13), provide for optional OS and AUX management interfaces to be connected to the HiGain system.

The HMU-319 requires that DSR be asserted by the connected DCE in order to establish
communications on this port. The HMU-319 always asserts DTR on this port.
