In instances when your PC is not starting anymore (i.e. there is no Windows desktop)
you can also put the Recovery CD in the drive (CD-ROM, CD-RW or DVD-ROM)
and simply restart your PC.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you store the Recovery CD in a safe place, as you may need it in the
future!
Compaq Recovery CD
The Compaq Recovery CD enables you to restore your system files from a separate
partition on your hard drive. The four options on the Recovery CD are listed below.
Restore Option
Emergency Recovery
Diskette
User Backup
User Restore
Factory Restore
IMPORTANT: If your system has more than one optical drive (CD-ROM, CD-RW,
DVD-ROM), only one may be bootable. If the CD does not boot automatically, try putting
the CD in the other drive.

Recovery CD Options
Description
Creating this diskette is important as it allows you to save your
computer's unique setup information. Store the diskette in a
safe place.
Backs up all information and files, including the Operating
System, on your hard drive and stores them in a separate
partition on your drive.
Restores your hard drive to the state it was in at your last
User Backup.
Restores your computer to its original factory-installed software
state.
