Special safety instructions for units with propane refrigerant (R290) The following applies to units with propane (R290) refrigerant: • For the installation or combination with devices as well as electrical and refrigeration components that do not correspond to an R290 design according to the respective guidelines, the unit must be covered and distanced from the adjoining units/components.

    1.10. Usage in accordance with the intended purpose The units are specially designed for freestanding CALEO islands, as CALEO modules, or for individual installation (see chapter Flexibility). They are suitable for keeping packaged food products and beverages cold and presenting them at controllable tempera- tures (see catalogue and homepage).

Target group and prior knowledge This documentation is intended for operating personnel in the area of gastronomy (e.g.: hotel chains, restaurants, catering) as well for the installation personnel. The unit may only be operated by trained personnel who are to be defined by the operator.

Residual dangers Even with maximum care during the design and construction of the units and taking into consideration all safety-relevant circumstan- ces, there can still be residual dangers that were evaluated by means of a risk assessment. All the residual risks and safety instructions from the risk assessment are listed in this chapter.

WARNING Danger of crushing/cutting when handling the evaporator box When lifting and reinserting the evaporator box, use the metal rod intended for that purpose. When lifting the evaporator box, make sure that it is lifted far enough until the locking tabs snap into place automatically.

    1.15. Personal protective equipment The following protective equipment must be worn for installation, dismantling and maintenance work: ar safety shoes for installation and loading work. Wear safety gloves according to EN 378-3 during assembly and loading activities and during activities with refrigerant. Wear safety glasses when disposing of the refrigerant and damaged parts/components.

Units with propane or other combustible and explosive refrigerants must be transported and handled observing the points given in Chapter 1.9. The safety inst- ructions in Chapter 1.8 must be complied with.

    1.17. Disposal WARNING Various dangers when disposing of refrigerants Wear protective gloves and eye protection during the disposal of refrigerants (propane, R404A, R134A etc.). Working with open flames is forbidden during the disposal of refrigerant. Dispose of the refrigerant properly and in an environmentally compatible way.

    2.4. Safety instructions on the unit Safety instructions are attached to the unit. They must be followed under all circumstances. If the safety markings start to blister or become damaged over the course of the service life of the unit, then they must be replaced by new stickers without delay. The legibility and completeness must be checked at regular intervals.

Electrical information The units are electrically fully equipped and installed (due to special construction depending on the order specification, the product may be prepared for customer-side controller/electrics). NOTE The cooling zone controller is completely set and ready for operation. After completion of the installation, check parameter H11 (calibration of return air sensor).

    2.4.2. Refrigeration-related information All units are equipped with coated fin coil evaporators. The connection pipes lead out downwards through the foamed refrigerated well. All pipes are installed and insulated. Units that are configured with gas dampers for the opened position of the fin coil evapo- rator must be checked monthly to make sure they work (model dependent).

    CALEO COLD/NEUTRAL TECHNOLOGY 2.5.2. Unit installation Unit installation for more than 2 units (back-to-back or side-by-side): Observe the associated installation guide for the „Caleo Island“. The instructions contained in it must be followed. The instructions can be found on the manufacturer‘s homepage or are available from customer support.

    Connection of the units in the base: All adjacent units must be connected in the base. For this purpose, mounting aids (fastening nuts) are pre-mounted in the base on each side of the unit. Connect two units that are beside each other with the help of a screw (M8) in the designated fastening nuts. Check the hold of each connection.

    CALEO COLD/NEUTRAL TECHNOLOGY 2.6. Installation of the control box The controller housing (incl. controller and display) is attached to the base of the unit (standard version). In the case of remote re- frigeration units, the controller is supplied loose and must be professionally installed after unit installation.

    2.7. Condensate disposal The condensate can be disposed of in a variety of ways (see table in Chapter 2.3). WARNING Danger from leaking water from an open hot gas evaporation or improperly installed condensate tray During the installation as well as operation of the unit, pay attention to a properly pushed-in condensate tray and completely closed hot gas evaporation.

    CALEO COLD/NEUTRAL TECHNOLOGY 2.8. Air circulation By default, the units are delivered with incoming air on the operator side and outgoing air on the customer side. We recommend ha- ving the exhaust air outlet on the customer side (see variant 1). If an exhaust air outlet on the customer side is not possible, then the exhaust air must be configured to be on the side or on the operator side (see variant 2).

    CALEO COLD/NEUTRAL CALEO COLD/NEUTRAL TECHNOLOGY 2.9. Defrosting possibilities Automatic defrosting Defrosting is handled automatically with the electronic thermostat. The unit starts the defrosting process automatically at regular intervals (depending on the model). The duration of a defrosting phase is already set at the factory for the respective model. During this time, the centre LED display (defrosting) illuminates on the left display.

    CALEO COLD/NEUTRAL OPERATION AND USAGE 3. OPERATION AND USAGE This chapter explains the proper start-up as well as operation of the unit. 3.1. Initial start-up Before the initial start-up, a waiting period of at least two hours must be kept after the installation. This rest period ensures that any oil that is located in the compressor capsule, which could have become displaced during transport, can run back to the compressor (applies to self-contained cooling appliances).

Switch unit on Press the On/Off switch (for Caleo Neutral and Caleo Neutral Plus) to switch on the LED light or the On button on the controller display (for Caleo Cold) to switch on the unit. 3.2.1. Störk button assignment The button assignments and their functions are explained in the following table.

    CALEO COLD/NEUTRAL OPERATION AND USAGE 3.2.2. Temperature setting The interior temperature is regulated via the display of the electronic temperature controller. It is located on the control box. The factory set target value can be shown by pressing the SET button. The temperature that you desire can be set by holding the SET button and simultaneously pressing the UP button for a higher temperature or alternatively the DOWN button for a lower temperature.

    3.2.3. Sensor calibration For a new installation and start-up of a unit, a sensor calibration is only possible after the target value temperature has been reached. This will take some time. NOTE The cooling zone controller is completely set and ready for operation. After completion of the installation, check parameter H11 (calibration of return air sensor).

The products can be placed on glass shelves and on the base deck.     CALEO COLD/NEUTRAL OPERATION AND USAGE 3.3.2. Height adjustment of the shelves The height and incline of the intermediate shelves can be adjusted in order to adapt the unit to your requirements. The intermedia- te shelves can be moved by one level (± 25 mm) from the middle position.
  • Page 49 Height-adjustment of the base decks (Air Tower) Some units are delivered with adjustable-height base decks. For models with a deep refrigerated well, this offers many possibilities for product presentation (see Chapter 2.1). GN trays with a maximum depth of 150 mm can be used. Models of the BAK design are delivered with flat shelves without height adjustment (Backnorm baking sheets with 600 x 400 mm) NOTE When adjusting the base decks, observe the stacking limits specified for the respective refrigeration appliance.

NOTE The glass must be manipulated and cleaned by at least two persons. Do not underestimate the weight of the glass. This also applies to glass enclosures.

    CALEO COLD/NEUTRAL CLEANING/MAINTENANCE/SERVICING 4.1.6. Cleaning the night roller blind The night roller blind (model-dependent) must be cleaned daily in accordance with Chapter 4.1.1. Exclusively the cleaning agents mentioned in Chapter 4.1.2 are permissible for cleaning the unit. Depending on the model, it is possible to have a mechanical or electric night roller blind (see Chapter 2.1).

    4.1.7. Cleaning hinged hot gas condensate evaporation The cleaning instructions given are to be used for the hot gas condensate evaporation as well as for the electric condensate tray (optional accessory). To do this, unplug the cooling appliance or disconnect all poles from the power mains.

Cleaning the electric condensate tray (optional accessory) The given cleaning instructions are to be applied in addition to the instructions described for the hot gas condensate evaporation NOTE Further cleaning instructions are given in the enclosed operating manual for the condensate tray and must also be observed.

Cleaning the drain pipe (incl. siphon) For units connected to the wastewater system, the drains including the siphon (model-dependent) must be flushed with hot water to remove possible impurities and bacteria. For units that have condensate evaporation (hot gas or electric), remove the drain pipe from the condensate tray and flush it with hot water.

    4.2. Maintenance information The unit must be checked and maintained regularly to ensure that it functions properly and presents the goods in best possib- le way. Each unit has been tested at the factory in accordance with the test procedure „Routine test” EN 60335-1 appendix A. Recommendation by the manufacturer: annual follow-up test according to VDE 0701-0702 by the operator.

Observe the service life and maintenance intervals given by the manufacturer. 4.5. Checking the refrigeration circuit All cooling appliances are equipped with refrigeration circuits in which proven, tested components are used.
