IMPORTANT SAFETY
INSTRUCTIONS
Do not dispose of batteries in a fire. They will vent
vapors and may explode.
Failure to observe this warning may result in injury
from inhalation of vapors or burns from flying debris.
• Do not immerse batteries in water or any liquid.
If batteries are immersed, contact your service
center for proper handling.
• Never short between the battery terminals.
• Use only an approved Greenlee charger rated for
16.8 volt nickel cadmium batteries.
• Do not disassemble or perform modifications to
the battery. (There are no user serviceable
components in the battery.)
• Do not place battery into pocket or toolbox with
conductive objects (coins, keys, tools, etc.).
• A battery placed on its nose on damp ground or
grass may be electrically shorted. Lay battery on
its side when not in use.

Operation

The life and capacity of a nickel cadmium (NiCd) battery
can vary significantly depending on the discharge
current, charging method and the environment in which
it is used. As with all batteries, expect to see a reduction
in the total number of tool operations a fully charged
battery can deliver over its life. Charging times and
reconditioning times may also increase.
New batteries should be reconditioned before first use
to optimize their performance. Batteries should also be
fully discharged between charging cycles.
When possible, allow the battery to "rest" for 30 - 45
minutes after charging and before using the battery in a
tool. This allows the battery to cool internally and helps
maintain battery life.
Battery Charge Indicator
The charge indicator LED's on the battery display power
available from the battery pack. Check the charge by
pressing the button beneath the LED display.
Note: All batteries have reduced capacity at cold
temperatures. The charge indicator is
automatically temperature compensated.
Maintenance
Use a soft cloth to wipe any dirt, moisture or grease
from the battery. Do not use any liquid to clean the
battery.
A battery will automatically retain a full charge if left in
an operating Greenlee charger.
Storage
Batteries should be kept in a cool, dry place whenever
possible. Do not store batteries in direct sunlight, on a
metal surface, or anywhere the batteries cannot cool down.
When batteries are to be unused for weeks or more,
they should be discharged before storage. A battery
can be safely discharged by placing it in a crimper
and cycling it until the battery is exhausted.
Do not leave the battery in a non-operating charger.
The battery may discharge back through the charger
rather than hold a charge.
Service
There are no user serviceable parts in this battery.
Recycling
Please dispose of used batteries in accordance with
federal, state, and local laws. In North America,
contact the nearest battery recycling center, call
1-800-8-BATTERY.
