My remote control does not
work.

Troubleshooting

IftheunitdoesnotperformproperlywhenoperatedasinstructedinthisUserManual,
check the following chart and all connections once before calling for service.

 • Checktheantennaorcableconnectiontothemainunit.
 • Checkthebatteriesoftheremotecontrol.
 • Checkifthereisanobstaclebetweentheinfraredsensorwindowandtheremotecontrol.
 • TestthesignalOutputuseIR Signal Check. 
 Ifokay,  thenpossibleinfraredsensortrouble.
 • Aimtheremotecontroldirectlyattheinfraredsensorwindowonthefrontoftheunit.
 • Reducethedistancetotheunit.
 • Re-insertthebatterieswiththeirpolarities(+/–)asindicated.
 • Whenthereisaninfrared-equippeddevicesuchasPCnearthisunit,  itmayinterrupttheremotecontrolsignalofthisunit.  Move
theinfrared-equippeddeviceawayfromthisunit,  changetheangleoftheinfraredsensororTurnOfftheinfraredcommunication
function.
 • ConnecttheRFcoaxialcabletotheunitdirectlyandruntheinitialsetup.
 • MakesuretocompletetheinitialsetupbeforetheunitgoesintoStandbymode.
 • Autoprogrammustbecompletedwhenyousetuptheunitforthefirsttimeormoveittoalocationwherepreviouslyunavailable
channelsarebroadcast.
 • MakesureAutoprogramhasbeencompleted. 
 • Theselectedchannelmaynotbebroadcasting.
 • WhenAutoprogramisinterruptedandnotcompleted,  somechannelswillnotbereceived.  Makesuretocompletethe

 • CheckifthecorrectInputmodeisselectedbypressingSOURCEorusingCH + / −.  RefertoWatching channels from an external

 • ManyDigitalchannelshavealternatechannelnumbers.  Theunitchangesthenumbersautomaticallytotheonessignifyingthe
broadcastingstationchannelnumber.  ThesebasicnumbersusedforpreviousAnalogbroadcasts.  (e.g.,  Inputch#30automatically
changestoch#6.1)
 • Captionsthataredelayedafewsecondsbehindtheactualdialogarecommonforlivebroadcasts.  Mostcaptioningproduction
companiescandisplayadialogtomaximumof220wordsperminute.  Ifadialogexceedsthatrate,  selectiveeditingisusedto
insurethatthecaptionsremainup-todatewiththecurrentTVscreendialog.
 • Thereisnoclockfunctiononthisunit.
 • IfaPowerfailureoccursforlongerthan10secondsthechildlocksettingisretained,  butthePINcodeisresettothedefaultcode
0000.  RefertoChild and ratings lock. 
Remedy
 • MakesuretheACpowercordispluggedin.
 • MakesurethattheACoutletsuppliesthepropervoltage,  pluganotherelectricalapplianceintotheACoutlettoensurethattheAC
outletoperatesnormally.
 • Ifapowerfailureoccurs,  unplugtheACpowercordfor1minutetoallowtheunittoresetitself.
 • Pressonlyonebuttonatatime.  DoNOTpressmorethanonebuttonatthesametime.
 • Ensurethatnobuttonsontheremotecontrolaredepressedandmovefreely.
