To ensure problem-free and cost-efficient operation of the machine, carefully read and comply with all requirements of this document. The document explains all the interfaces between the plant and the TOMRA Sorting equipment and also informs you about the necessary safety precautions.
Safe operation cannot be guaranteed if the machine is not used according to the specifications. The AUTOSORT must only be operated indoors. The machine is intended for the industrial separation of recyclable materials in dry or moist bulk material.

Prior to start-up/acknowledgment, check that no persons are within the danger area. We strongly recommend you do not attempt to access the area below the AUTOSORT when the sorter is in operation. Always stay at a safe distance to avoid injuries.
Functional description 3.1.1 AUTOSORT AUTOSORT systems consist of a scanner unit (pos. 2) with control unit and a valve block at the end of a conveyor. Figure 3 shows a high-mounted system with several possible options. Feeding of unsorted material...
3.2.1 AUTOSORT The TOMRA Sorting scope of supply consists of the orange components shown in the illustration below. The conveyor, scanner frame, support frame and VPBS adjustment are to be supplied by the customer, or can be purchased as optional equipment.
TOMRA Sorting only delivers the electrical (VBPS control unit, cables) and pneumatic parts (VBPS pressure regulator, hoses) for the AUTOSORT VBPS. TOMRA only delivers both cylinders and the position sensor (see figure 3 on page 13 in orange) for the mechanical part (VBPS adjustment).

(figure 4, item 5). The interface is the inlet hose nipple of the air pressure regulator delivered by TOMRA Sorting. The customer must provide compressed air tubing or a hose with a connection length of min. 1000 mm (39.37 in.) up to the inlet, including the clamps to fix the hose.

Variations in the ambient light can significantly affect the sorting result. To avoid this problem, TOMRA Sorting recommends protecting the area under the scanner unit in all sorting systems equipped with a VIS sensor from direct sunlight and powerful indoor lamps. The figure below shows an example of a housing.

The height and distance to the valve block depends on the speed of the belt and the composition of the material. Pre-installation Requirements Requirements Maintenance area 5.8.1 Access platform The access platform is mandatory for the high mounted system in order to carry out servicing and maintenance. 5.8.2 Conveyor Customers must provide a gangway around the device that is large enough to allow operation and maintenance to be carried out.

We recommend you only carry heavy loads with the assistance of others. Damage and claims If the customer detects any damage, they shall inform TOMRA Sorting within three working days from receipt. They shall also take all necessary measures to give information about the nature and extent of such damage (by taking photographs or making a video recording).
The buyer must provide proof that appropriate insurance cover is in place. TOMRA Sorting reserves the right to determine that storage is proper if it has reasonable grounds to do so. All costs associated with any such check will be borne by the buyer.
The control unit contains the main computer and the interfaces to control the AUTOSORT system. 7.4.2 Flex signals If required by the customer, TOMRA Sorting service can configure three flexible outputs and the “Common Warning” output. Each signal can be sent to each output. The “Common Warning” output can be used for one signal or to combine several signals. Each Flex output is limited to one signal.

Multiple wires for signals Multiple wires are required for the signals to be displayed in the control room. The standard AUTOSORT system delivers 1 input (2 wires) and 6 output signals (7 wires). So a minimum of 9 wires is required.

The following diagram shows the required network configuration depending on the number of installed AUTOSORT systems. The internal network switch is used to connect up to 5 units. From 6 to 13 units a separate network cabinet is required. For any questions or if more than 13 machines are integrated in the network, contact TOMRA Sorting project management.
The Air Blast Cleaning System blasts the valve block with compressed air at specific times in order to remove loose contaminants. Central Control Unit - a central computer to control and monitor the AUTOSORT units. The CCU can be added as an option. The PC system is supplied, installed and configured by TOMRA Sort- ing.
