*2. Do not make dimple diameter small.
The dimple in ice is necessary and important to
repeat the freeze and defrost cycles normally. The
Dimple size
must be more
freeze completion temperature and time are factory
than 5 mm
adjusted to make the dimple diameter more than 5
mm on average.
If dimple in ice is small...
Some spray holes and return holes in the water plate freeze.
The load on the
actuator motor gear rapidly increases when ice is forced to be released (by cam
rotation) during the defrost cycle.
If ice is forced to be released when the spray holes and return holes on the water
prate are frozen,
the linked parts of ice in the evaporator are torn off and remain
frozen on the surface of the water plate. This linked ice is not completely melted by the
cleaning water (water supply) for flushing the water plate surface and remains widely on
the water plate when ice is released from the evaporator.
Furthermore, a smaller amount of linked parts during the defrost cycle tends to make ice
stuck between the evaporator and water plate. That is because ice cubes are released
separately (each ice cube is lightweight) and easily get stuck on ice attached to the
water plate surface, which will cause an excessive load on the actuator motor gear.
* There is no problem making the dimple diameter larger (10 to 15 mm) to increase
the ice making capacity or shorten the freeze cycle time.
