Driving and operating
● the engine is switched off.

Fault

and a warning message is displayed
in the Driver Information Centre
accompanied by a warning chime.

Regenerative braking

9 Warning
In the case of extreme
temperatures or if the high voltage
battery is almost fully charged, the
brake force of the engine braking
may be temporarily reduced. If the
braking force is not sufficient, the
driver has to be prepared to use
the brake pedal.

Depending on the engine braking
force the brake lights are
illuminated.
Regenerative braking generates
electrical energy resulting from
engine braking to charge the high
voltage battery.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
improves driving stability when
necessary, regardless of the type of
road surface or tyre grip.
As soon as the vehicle start to swerve
(understeer / oversteer), engine
output is reduced and the wheels are
braked individually.
ESC consists of several subsystems:
● Antilock brake system (ABS)
