If the compressor is not connected and the stop valve is open during pumpdown, air will be suctioned while removing the refrigerant piping, producing abnormal pressure on the refrigerant cycle, which in turn could lead to breakage and personal injury.

    Wall Unit Piping requirements If the outdoor unit is installed below the indoor unit: 1. A drain pipe must be placed above the floor; the end of the drain pipe must not be placed in water. 2. The wrapping of the pipe must be applied from the bottom part towards the top; it should not be very tight to avoid compression of insulating material and to prevent a loss of efficiency.
