    I. FARADAY MPC-NET2 INTRODUCTION The Faraday MPC-NET2 network is a way to link MPC-6000 or MPC-7000 Fire Alarm Control units, RND-2 Remote Network Displays and printers together to form a network. MPC-6000 and MPC-7000 Firmware version 3.0 or higher is required to be running on each panel. A total of 99 Network Interface Boards (NIBs) can be connected on a network.
  • Page 6: Before Connecting Nibs

Before Connecting NIBs Each panel should be running and free of troubles and alarms before attempting to connect to the network. When panels are free of troubles and alarms proceed to the Panel-NIB configuration section. Node Numbering A total of 99 NIBs can be connected on a network. Addresses 1 thru 99 are to be used for MPC-6000, MPC-7000, RND-2 Remote Network Displays, printers, and computers used as simple terminals to log network events.
  • Page 7: Trouble Indications

Trouble Indications All panels and network annunciators connected to the network will indicate network specific faults (see Section III for details). Individual panel system troubles (ground fault, battery, etc) will not be transmitted to other fire panels but will be transmitted to the RND-2s, network printers and simple monitoring computers. All initiating devices on the MPC-6000 or MPC-7000 can also be programmed to a network LINK (accomplished while configuring devices on the panel).
  • Page 8: Supervisory Indications

Supervisory Indications Individual fire panel supervisory conditions will be transmitted to the RND-2s and network printers. All initiating devices on the MPC-6000 or MPC-7000 can also be programmed to a network LINK (accomplished while configuring devices on the panel). The maximum LINK number for the MPC-6000 and MPC-7000 is 255. If an initiating device on a panel goes into supervisory, and it has been programmed to a network LINK, it will send a network message to the other panels indicating that the network LINK is in supervisory.
  • Page 9: Ii. Network Annunciators

II. NETWORK ANNUNCIATORS It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that at least one RND-2 annunciator is included on the network. RND-2 The RND-2 is designed to annunciate network events (alarms, troubles and supervisories). It is capable of scrolling through network events. These events can be acknowledged either globally or for the RND-2 only. Alarms may also be silenced globally.

12525 LINE SURGE SUPPRESSOR The 12525 is a data line Surge Suppressor and is required when networking from building to building using Category 5 wiring. The 12525 Surge Suppressor comes mounted in a surface backbox and can be used with a 12523A or 12526A Network Interface Board for mounting. Step 1.) Installation is to be done by qualified personnel who have thoroughly read and Notes:...
