3.11 Chimney fire

The use of incorrect or damp fuels can cause deposits to build up in the chimney and result in a
chimney fire. Close the primary and secondary air supplies immediately! Close the firebox door
immediately! Call the fire brigade and the local chimney sweep!
Warning! Never attempt to extinguish the fire yourself with water, as this can lead to
steam explosions in the chimney, which can cause significant damage to the building.
How to recognise a chimney fire:
Unusual airflow noises coming from the stove
Chimney frame getting warm
Wallpaper peeling off
Unusually strong smoke developing
Flames bursting from the chimney
Contact the local chimney sweep for approval before using the stove again.
