Introduction Thank you for purchasing this Shindaiwa Balloon Tower Light. • This manual has been created to ensure safe usage of this tower light. Be sure to read this manual before operation. Improper operation/handling of this tower light will result in an accident or malfunction.
1. Safety Precautions WARNING: TIPPING OVER Lower the mast if using in strong wind that causes the lamp fitting to sway severely. Although the mast can withstand wind speeds up to 15 m/s when the mast is completely extended (with the balloon standing vertically), the balloon fabric can become deformed in wind speeds of 12 to 14 m/s and entangled in the lamp guard.

CAUTION: BURNS Do not touch the lamp, lamp guard or ballast when the lamp is lit up or immediately after being turned off because they are extremely hot. CAUTION: ELECTRIC SHOCK Do not sprinkle water on the equipment and do not use where exposed to rain. Locations of Warning/Caution labels Replace warning and caution labels with new ones if they become damaged and difficult to read.

5. Operating Procedures Dolly 5-1. Operating the Dolly Handle Handle Turn the handle to the right to turn the front wheels to the right and turn to the left to turn the front wheels to the left. <Note> Be sure to always use the dolly tow hook if towing or pulling this tower light such as if the wheels are stuck in sand.
5-3. Using the Outriggers WARNING: TIPPING OVER/INJURY Be careful of the outriggers when they are in use. You could trip and fall. CAUTION: INJURY Be sure to always support the outriggers with one hand when setting and storing them. Be careful that your hand supporting the outrigger does not get pinched or caught by the mast or winch handle when setting and storing the outriggers.
5-4. Using the Lamp Fitting WARNING: ELECTRIC SHOCK Do not touch this tower light during operation if it or your body is wet. CAUTION: INJURY/BURNS To change the direction of the lamp fitting, hold the lamp fitting lever with one hand and support the lamp fitting while loosening the fixing handles (rotation and tilt handles).
5-5. Lifting/Lowering the Mast CAUTION: INJURY Do not touch the mast, winch drum or wire when the mast is moving up/down. <Note> Depletion of the grease of the ring key on the surface on the winch drum side reduces the service life of the winch.
6. Assembly at Purchase Although the cover is fitted to the balloon lamp fitting when shipped from the factory, the balloon fabric is not installed. Perform the following procedures to install. 6-1. Removing the Lamp Fitting Cover Apply the wheel brakes. (Refer to "5-2. Applying the Wheel Brakes".) Use the outriggers to secure the generator.
6-2. Installing the Balloon Fabric Open the zipper on the balloon fabric side surface. Pass the three fabric bands inside the balloon Lamp Guard fabric through the openings at the end of the lamp guard and attach by using the snap buttons.
7. Operating Procedures (Tower Light) WARNING: TIPPING OVER Lower the mast if using in strong wind that causes the lamp fitting to sway severely. Although the mast can withstand wind speeds up to 15 m/s when the mast is completely extended (with the balloon standing vertically), the balloon fabric can become deformed in wind speeds of 12 to 14 m/s and entangled in the lamp guard.
Remove the buckle bundling and securing the balloon fabric. Adjust the lamp fitting direction (vertical angle and rotation). (Refer to "5-4. Using the Lamp Fitting".) Check that the generator Output switch is turned to "OFF" and connect the power cord to the output outlet of the generator.
8. Transport Procedures (Moving/Loading on a Vehicle) WARNING: TIPPING OVER Always be sure to lower the mast to the lowest position when moving or transporting loaded on a vehicle. When loaded on a vehicle, set so that the generator side is facing towards the direction of travel (mast is in the back).

<Note> If moving the tower light generator by use of a forklift, be sure to always lower the mast to the lowest position with the generator loaded before inserting the forks completely into the generator. When scooping up the tower light generator with a forklift to transport it, do not move forward down a steep incline or rotate the forklift suddenly.
9. Lamp Replacement Procedures WARNING: ELECTRIC SHOCK Do not touch this tower light during operation if it or your body is wet. Be sure to always stop the engine before performing any check or maintenance of the lamp and other parts. CAUTION: INJURY/BURNS Do not touch the mast, winch drum or wire when the mast is moving up/down.
10. Lamp Fitting Installing/Removing Procedures Perform the following procedures to remove the balloon lamp fitting when it is installed to a stand or pole. Install by performing the procedures in the reverse order. Apply the wheel brakes. (Refer to "5-2. Applying the Wheel Brakes".) Bolt Move the mast to the lowest position.

Lifting Lug Bolt Remove the bolt and nut securing the lifting lug and generator, and push the lifting lug to the mast side. Generator Bolt Remove the eight bolts securing the metal holders (saddles) of the generator wheels (casters). Caster Saddle Unload the generator from the dolly.

(2) Cleaning Dirt from the Balloon Fabric Wipe away any dirt or grime by using a cloth to which a neutral detergent has been applied. <Note> Do not use any solvents such as alcohol or gasoline to clean. Do not clean by scrubbing or using a washing machine. Doing so can damage the fabric coating.
