IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
6. Do not immerse the appliance's casing in water or any other
liquid and do not let any water come into contact with the electrical
connections or contacts. This may cause a fire or an electric shock.
7. Keep the appliance and its power cord out of the reach of children
under 8 years old. Make sure the power cord does not hang over
the edge of the work surface. Never unplug or move the appliance
by pulling the power cord. Do not wind the cord around the
appliance.
8. Never put the appliance or any of its parts near a heat source.
9. This appliance is only intended for household use and similar
applications, for example:
– Staff kitchens in stores, offices and other workplaces
– Farms
– By customers at hotels, motels and other home­like
environments
– Youth hostels and similar environ ments
10. Only use the appliance indoors on a stable work surface and
keep it away from water.
11. Never use accessories that are not recommended or sold by the
manufacturer. If you do, you may harm yourself or damage the
appliance. The jug must only be used with this appliance.
12. Never leave the appliance unattended when you are using it.
Boiling water can cause serious burns. Be careful when the jug
contains hot coffee.
13. Never use the coffee maker without filling it with water. Always
use fresh, cold water for brewing coffee.
14. Never fill the water container beyond the 'MAX' level. Never put
too much water into the coffee maker.

15. Never put the jug into an oven (including a microwave oven) or on
a hot hob to heat the coffee up.
16. The jug is not suitable for use in a fridge, freezer or dishwasher.
17. Remember that the coffee will be hot. Handle the jug carefully to
avoid scalding. Make sure you do not burn yourself on the steam
that evaporates from the filter.
18. Handle the glass jug carefully, as the glass is very fragile. Never
use the appliance if there are signs of any cracks on the jug, if it
is chipped or if it is damaged in any other way.
19. Never put the glass jug on the heating plate when the coffee maker
is switched on, or any other hot surface, if the jug is empty or
almost empty. Remove the jug from the heating plate if it boils dry.
20. Make sure all the controls are 'OFF' before unplugging the
appliance.
21. Check that the temperature in the room is over 0°C; otherwise
the appliance will not work correctly.
22. Descale the appliance regularly to ensure the best performance
and to prevent any faults.
23. Let the appliance cool down before you clean it or put it away.
24. The appliance may give off a small amount of smoke and smell
the first times you use it. This is because there is oil on some of
the parts. This will pass after the appliance has been used a few
times.
25. Do not clean the jug with abrasive or polishing detergents.
26. There are surfaces that can get extremely hot when
the appliance is in use.
